Ipad Flipboard Twitter and Facebook Quickreview

Flipboard is an Ipad App that gathers up newsfeeds from social-media sites and puts them into a nice emagazine-layout on your Ipad. There has been alot of hype with the release of this app, so much that it brought the company's servers to it's knees upon release. The ability to add personal Facebook and Twitter Feeds was suspended until they could shore-up their systems.

A few days later, and Twitter and Facebook feeds are now available and they look pretty good. After entering your user info and password, Flipboard starts gathering up your feeds. It displays the Tweet along with an image of whatever was Tweeted. The Twitter feeds especially look nice if you are mostly using them to read tweeted links from the people you follow.

The Facebook feeds still may need a little work, since some links end up being formatted as ugly white-space. Using Flipboard is also a good alternative to going to Facebook's website on the Ipad since they still don't have their own native Facebook App.

You can't control who's posts you see. So you pretty much just get the most recent updates from everyone on your lists.

PROS:
  • It's Free!
  • Nicely-laid out Articles and updates from Twitter and Facebook.
  • You feel like you're reading a newspaper or magazine that's customized to your twitter interests and your friends posts on facebook.

CONS:
  • No fine-control over who's feeds/information you see.
  • Facebook update-posts sometimes have unsightly white-space because of how they process the links.
  • Flipboard servers seem to still be running into performance problems and you will occasionally get error messages.
